The History of Phoenixville

October 18, 2020

In October, our own renowned historian, Barbara Cohen guided Congregation B’nai Jacob University participants through the history of the Phoenixville and its Renaissance.   Thanks to forward thinking and collaboration of individuals, businesses and non-profits, Phoenixville has lived up to its name and it has risen from the ashes… The Phoenix of Phoenixville was an ironworks that supplied arms for armies, rails for railroads, backbones for bridges and much more.  It went cold more than thirty years ago, but from its ashes, new community resources have emerged.  The historic Foundry Building has been restored and adaptively re-used, and it is located close to the Schuylkill River Trail.  These new resources are symbolic of the town’s rise from the ashes of its past.
