Community

Since 1912, Congregation B地ai Jacob has served the Jewish population of Philadelphia痴 northwestern suburbs. Located in Phoenixville (Map), B地ai Jacob attracts members from the Chester and Montgomery county area communities as we are conveniently accessible along the corridors of routes 422, 23 and 202. Innovative programs, expansive classrooms, a pre-school and a broad array of social activities for all age groups make B地ai Jacob a special Jewish Community. As a growing congregation, B地ai Jacob Synagogue offers programs that meet a wide range of needs for all ages. Starting with our pre-school program to adult education, you will find a number of programs and events for the many interests of our members. We also boast several active committees that enhance our synagogue activities and provide opportunities for members to get involved.

Becoming affiliated with a synagogue is the first and essential step in living a meaningful and fulfilling Jewish life. Congregation B'nai Jacob represents a truly authentic Jewish community, through which members discover fellowship and shared values in the pursuit of Jewish knowledge, identity, and observance. We value the bonds of friendship that bring us together, recognizing that each individual makes a unique contribution that enriches all of us.

We welcome and encourage new members from any and all Jewish backgrounds. We want to share with you the unique balance of tradition and openness that characterize Conservative Judaism as practiced at B'nai Jacob. Our Congregation is only as strong as the commitment and good will of our members. Benefits include our monthly newsletter, Hakol, complementary High Holy Day tickets, a comprehensive religious school program, Holiday celebrations, Adult Education classes, Sisterhood and many other activities and special programs.

Membership dues are comparable to other synagogues of our size in this area. However, we never let dollars stand in the way of the ability of members to affiliate with us; we ask only that each member make the support of the Congregation a major priority within the means available to him or her. For more information, please call our administrative offices at 610-933-5550.

Focus on Education

Recognizing that Jewish learning is a lifelong experience, education is the cornerstone to B地ai Jacob Synagogue. A variety of educational programs is available including Sunday School and Hebrew School, Bar and Bat Mitzvah study, Adult Education, Adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah and other youth activities including Kadima and our affiliation with the Chester County branch of Gratz Hebrew High School.

B地ai Jacob痴 Macy B. Solomon religious school provides a positive Jewish environment in which students can find support and understanding toward developing their Jewish identity. Classes provide answers and experiences to expand students' understanding of the values, ethics and lifestyle of the Conservative Jew. The school guides students toward establishing the Jewish sense of community and provides opportunities to translate values into actions. Students also learn the practical skills and understanding to participate and to lead in Jewish home and synagogue services, rituals, life cycle events and holiday observances.

Teachers present the students selected source materials from which Jews and Judaism draw their uniqueness and life view. They incorporate activities that help students feel part of the Jewish people in general - and guide them in creating a positive identification and relationship with Israel, in particular. The ultimate goal of the school is to make the synagogue an important focal point in the students' lives.

B地ai Jacob Cemetery
Lovers Lane
Monte Clare, PA

At a time of loss, great comfort comes from embracing the rich traditions of our faith. Congregation B地ai Jacob is committed to fulfilling these traditions of Judaism. Located only two miles from our synagogue, in a quiet, rural setting, B地ai Jacob Cemetery provides the Jewish Community a place to remember and reflect on the loved ones that have gone before them. B地ai Jacob Cemetery embraces the entire spectrum of Jewish belief and honors Judaism痴 centuries old customs and traditions of burial. The cemetery has two sections: the Traditional Consecrated section is about 100 years old and follows Halacha, while the adjacent Non-traditional section allows families where one spouse is not Jewish to have a family area. Burial plots are available without cost to current Congregation B地ai Jacob members in good standing.
